Finding the Ancient Cuneiform Tablets

The discovery of the existence of the Anunnaki Gods first began in the modern era with the unearthing of the famous city of Nineveh, a once great metropolis in the ancient country of Assyria. Nineveh was once ruled by King Ashurbanipal (668 to 630 BC), who was perhaps the first great collector of archaeological artifacts. Ashurbanipal constructed a Library, trying to piece together the lost history of the  human race and the coming of the gods before the destruction wrought by the Great Flood. Today the Ashurbanipal Library is composed over some 32,000 clay tablets all held at the British Museum, each tablet written in the cuneiform language.

While Nineveh’s location was lost to the sands of Iraq, some locals claimed to know its original location. Our story of discovery begins with a surveyor for the East India Company in Baghdad named Claudius Rich. Rich was sent to survey the site of what was believed to be the city  for the first time in 1820. While there, he heard of the discovery of a large stone relief depicting men and animals, and this prompted him to dig deeper into the ruins he found.

Over the next twenty years, through the combined efforts of British explorer Austen Henry Layard and Sir Stratford Canning, the British ambassador in Constantinople who provided funding, the first excavations were launched. Between 1845 and 1851 Layard excavated sites at Nineveh and then Nimrod, unearthing the first large group of stone tablets from the Library of the famous King Ashurbanipal by the Spring of 1850. Layard’s supervisor tells of the initial find:

“I shall call these chambers “the chambers of records,” or “the house of the rolls,” or records, which [King] Darius ordered to be searched for the decree of [the Persian king] Cyrus, concerning the building of the temple of Jerusalem. They appear to have contained the decrees of the Assyrian kings, as well as the archives of the empire…. The chambers I am describing appear to have been a depository in the palace of Nineveh for such documents. To the height of a foot or more from the floor they were entirely filled with them; some entire, but the greater part broken into many fragments, probably by the falling in of the upper part of the building. They were of different sizes; the largest tablets were flat, and measured about 9 inches by 6½ inches; the smaller were slightly convex, and some were not more than an inch long, with but one or two lines of writing. The cuneiform characters on most of them were singularly sharp and well defined, but so minute in some instances as to be almost illegible without a magnifying glass.”

This was a massive find of tablets. Thousands more were found in these same rooms in 1874 by excavator George Smith  and by the Egyptologist E.A Wallis Budge between 1890 and 1891. Large finds were also made around the southwest sector of the palace, and in late 1853 Hormuzd Rassam discovered a second large group of tablets from Ashurbanipal’s famous Library collection while excavating at the North Palace on Kuyunjik.

Over the next 100 years the British Museum recovered even more stone tablets in a series of expeditions launched in 1870 and still later with Campbell Thompson in the 1920’s and 30’s. Finally, from the 1950’s on, Iraqi teams began to also explore the ruins, and  were joined by British and American colleagues in the 1980’s. So vast was this Library, that even today the task of recovering the stone cuneiform tablets from the city of Nineveh that Iraqi excavations continue to look for some of the remaining tablets today.

Why were these tablets so important? Not only are they the definitive basis for all knowledge about Assyria, and many of the other competing kingdoms at that time, but it is from these tablets that researchers first learned about the HIDDEN HISTORY OF THE GODS. Then through the scholarly work of historians like Zechariah Sitchin, who could read cuneiform and translate these tablets, with the publication of this EARTH CHRONICLE BOOK SERIES, the public begin to uncover the HIDDEN HISTORY OF THE HUMAN RACE.

The story of the gods interaction with our planet begins some 438,000 years ago when a group of tall, long lived cosmonauts descended to Earth from a planet called Nibiru. They came because they had a very serious environmental problem. Their planetary ozone levels were being slowly depleted, and this was adversely affecting their crops and their ability to feed their people. Their scientists had devised a method of shielding that would allow light into their planet, while  protecting their eroding atmosphere. The solution was to build a giant dome constructed of thin gold sheeting which would block out the cosmic radiation, but let sunlight through. But the problem, they quickly realized, was they did not have enough gold to construct the dome. So they came to Earth in search of gold, and thus we have the legends of “the gold of the Gods.” This is also the reason that gold has always been the standard for all monetary exchange.

The cosmonauts first landed on Earth in the Fertile Crescent, the place where four great rivers once met. This is now an area called Mesopotamia. Their first settlement was in a place later named Eridu, meaning “home far away.” The expedition was led by Ea, the first born son of their King, King Anu. Ea was an engineer and scientist who would later be given the name Enki, a term meaning “Lord of the Earth.” For over 3600 years Enki worked to extract gold from Earth’s oceans, but the amounts in our waters were too small. Eventually he discovered vast deposits of the mineral in South Africa and his crews set to work tirelessly to extract the gold. Today we have discovered hundreds of abandoned mining caves, shafts and excavations in this area.

The initial crew of cosmonauts was composed of only 50 explorers. At the onset they had to figure out how to set up camp, find or raise their own food, build their own shelters, locate the gold and smelt it, and then construct a space platform to send the gold back to their home planet.  A daunting task indeed, especially 450,000 years ago! They knew that if they failed, their planet would perish, so they believed they were in a race against time to prevent the destruction of their entire civilization.

From what we can now glean, based on archaeological and anthropological discoveries, as well as historical accounts, the gods were tall human beings with large bright eyes, blonde or red hair, long beards, and large craniums. Many of these large cranium skulls have been found across the world, especially in South and Central America, where their second great gold excavations took place. These skulls have a brain capacity of some 3200 grams, while human brain capacity is about 1300 grams, telling us that it is possible that they had powerfully developed intellects, and may even have accessed parts of their minds that gave them additional powers, like telepathy, dream projection, levitation, telekinetic abilities and the ability to alter their own shape, or to at least appear to alter their shapes. All of these abilities are ascribed to the Gods in myth and legend.

Some have speculated that their over sized craniums were caused by the existence of low level gamma rays produced by their own planet. This is an interesting theory and has some biological basis in fact. Anthropologist have long known that it is an exposure to gamma rays that allowed Homo Sapien Sapiens to develop its fore brain, but they could not account for “where” these gamma rays would have originated. So perhaps the periodic return of this planet to the vicinity of Earth, is the means through which our own evolution is accelerated. We also can observe that while the early depictions of the first Gods show larger craniums, often hidden behind crowns, hats and headgear, as in this image of the Sun God Shamash meeting with King Hammurabi. However, as the children of the Gods were born on Earth, this larger sized cranium seems to disappear.

By all accounts the Gods were also luminescent, seeming to shine from the inside out, and thus they were called “the Shining Ones” or Elohim. The prefix El means “shinning”. Later this prefix would become a suffix assigned to many Angels like Rapha-el, Gabri-el, Micha-el, and Uri-el, the four best known of the Archangels. In even later centuries the Christian Church would attempt to extinguish the history of the Gods, consolidating the name Elohim (a plural form) into a singular God. They also diminished the Els into the Elves of mythic legend, a tall slender long lived race who was said to shine with their own light.

Many times throughout our history, these beings are depicted with wings, so it is certainly possible that they had them. As we have seen when we examine photographs of the fairy kingdom, there are small humanoid beings on our planet who have both arms and legs, and four translucent wings. If such a thing exist on a smaller scale, then why not on a larger one? It might explain some of the many legends we have today of large winged shining Angels.

However it is equally possible that the artists of the various civilizations chose to depict the Gods with wings because their cosmonauts had the ability to fly. Thus they drew wings on their backs to clearly convey this concept.  It is also possible that with all their technology and mental powers, they had mastered the ability to levitate of fly. Among the art work of this era, the gods and goddesses are clearly depicted as completely human and yet sometimes they are winged, so the jury is still out on all the variances of their appearance. It is also entirely possible that there was a specific class of Anunnaki who did have wings, and these may have been the Angels of ancient legend, the “messengers of the gods.”

What is clear is that they were very large in size, varying from 9′ to 18′. Depictions of them alongside human beings, in both ancient and modern art, often emphasize this difference in size. This is also supported by the discovery of enormous skulls that can only belong to larger human beings. We also see this same feature addressed in the height of ancient doorways and the ceilings of great temples found throughout the ancient world, revealing that these buildings were probably used by the Gods themselves.

Images of the Anunnaki instructing their subjects, dispensing law, or teaching humanity in some way appear again in again in human history. In this image  you can see the crown of the presiding God with his larger, extended cranium. In his hands he holds a SHEN, a symbol that represents balance and ruler ship. It is  composed of a line and a circle, the male and female aspects of the Universe in balance with one another.

He sits beneath a canopy and before him on a table is the symbol of Nibiru, the Planet of the Crossing. A closer examination of this glyph reveals that at its center is the Sun. The horizontal line represent the Plane of the Ecliptic, the flat plate that all the planets of our solar system revolve upon. The vertical axis of the cross is the north and south alignment, and the wavy diagonal lines represent the elliptical path or trajectory of their planet in its large 3600 year rotation between our Sun and their own dark dwarf star.

Over time the Anunnaki Gods spread out across the world, dividing their territories into four great sections after the destruction of the Flood: Mesopotamia for the House of Enlil, Enki’s dominating younger brother, who had taken command of the expedition; Africa, given to Enki and his six sons, among them Ra and Thoth; the Sinai Peninsula, overseen by Ninharsag or Nimah, the Mother of Humanity. Because she was a peacemaker, this is where the Space Port for shipping the gold back to Nibiru had been reestablished after the Great Flood. Today it is modern day Jerusalem, the most fought over place in the world.  The conflict between the various factions of the Anunnaki Gods that developed over the centuries, is why that particular point on the globe is still being fought over by various religious factions today. They do not even remember why the conflicts started, but this piece of land became a crucial chess piece in the conflict between the Gods; and finally the Indus Valley, developed by the Goddess Ishtar or Inanna.

As World Civilizers, they built cities, roads, fortifications, dikes, grainery bins and temples. They taught all the arts of civilization including writing, architecture, mathematics, astronomy, astrology, and the foundations of all the major sciences. They excelled in all the mercantile arts from pottery, carving, jewelry making, the development of fabrics, leather goods, and metal objects. They also taught the healing arts in many forms, as well as the arts of agriculture and animal domestication.

They established the infrastructure of society of multiple ways from property rights to the laws that govern family inheritances, building, marriage and divorce, and taxes. Their Temples had large storage bins of excess food designed to prepare the community in times of famine or hardship. They also designed the mercantile and artistic Guilds, structured programs to train the young as the Apprentice, the Journeyman and the Master, so that their knowledge would continue to be passed on.

In their temples they established rituals to not only honor the Gods, but to honor the changing of the seasons, the planting cycles, and the creating of humankind by the Gods long ago. Along the way they taught the archetypes of the planets, celestial energies that influence the Earth and all living things on her. In time, certain Gods and Goddesses came to be associated with these planets, exemplifying some of their archetypal characteristics.

For centuries the chief scientists among the Anunnaki Gods were know as the SERPENTS OF WISDOM. It is important to say that this has nothing to do with the Gods being some sort of shape shifting Reptilian. They are never depicted like that, as speakers like David Ike has suggested. The Serpent is a symbol of the alchemy of enlightenment, indicating that these individuals had activated the serpentine energy in their spines, the Kundalini life force energy that flows up and down our backs culminating in the opening of ones Inner Sight. Hindu sages have taught this alchemy for centuries, and thus the Serpent indicates a being of great knowledge and spiritual power.

We find it today in the Caduceus Staff, a symbol created by Thoth, the God of Wisdom to represent healing. Thoth, Mercury or Hermes Trimegistus (thrice great Hermes) was a spiritual Adept of the highest order. The two entwined snakes represent the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems that must be raised through each of the seven major chakras  to awaken our Inner Sight. It is a shame that our own religions have so little understanding of the biology of internal enlightenment that they have corrupted this image among many.

In time, as each of the factions of the Anunnaki Gods and their Houses chose various symbols, the House of Enki chose the Serpent. This was for many reasons. As a scientist, Enki knew about the structure of the DNA and he was one of three Gods who were responsible for jump starting the DNA of primitive human beings into the Homo Sapiens Sapiens we are today. This event took place around 200,000 years ago when many of the Anunnaki workers rebelled against the leadership of Enlil, Enki’s dominating younger brother. The work was too hard and even though their lives were long, spending 5,000 or 10,000 years doing mining, was more than they could bare.

So the Gods met in Council, trying to determine a solution. Because there was a primitive version of man on the Earth,  Cromagnon or Neanderthal, they chose to create a hybrid being that would combine human DNA with that of the Gods. The result was Homo Sapiens, a species that flourish from 200,000 years to 40,000 years ago. At that time the Gods combined their own DNA to mankind again, resulting in our current species, Homo Sapiens Sapiens.

Thus the symbol of the snake had many meanings. It was the path of transformation within our DNA. It is also the path to spiritual enlightenment. Later Enki’s son Thoth, or Hermes, would establish Spiritual Orders across the world to help human beings begin to discover and activate their own divine potential. This Order was initially called THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE SNAKE, and through its teachings in the various Mystery Schools scattered across the planet, some of the hidden history of the human race was finally revealed, as well as the Codes and Keys for Enlightenment.

However, in time, the House of Enlil became angry with the House of Enki, and through the distortions of the Priests of Jehovah (aka. Jove/Zeus or Enlil) the emblem of the serpent was transformed into a symbol for disobedience. Those who carried it were said to be “deceivers” and enemies to mankind.

Yet a deeper examination of the facts of history reveal that Enlil was not a friend to mankind, and viewed human beings as weaker, shorter lived, expendable chattle. Only those who obeyed absolutely would be tolerate, and thus he sent tests to the human beings that he chose, like the order to Abraham to kill his own son.  Once he learned the human would obey without question, he might select them for a job, just as Abraham was chosen to investigate the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah before Enlil leveled bombs on both of those cities. In Enlil’s estimation, humanities job was to mine the gold, raise the food and serve the Gods. Enlil was also responsible for not trying to warn humanity during the Great Deluge.

Yet Enki and his children warned them, being great advocates of humanity. It was Enki who instructed Noah to build the ark and left him the plans so that humanity and all the animals of the Earth would be saved.
